When it comes to Fallout 76, you have an enormous selection of weapons to choose from. And while that’s what most nerds want from a game, the reality is it would take forever to try out every single weapon you come across. That’s where Nerds and Scoundrels comes in!
Our Picks for the Top 10 Best Pistols in Fallout 76
One of the earliest weapon types you will come across is the pistol. While not the most powerful weapon available, there are some excellent pistol options that you can create a murderous build around. Pistols are also light and fairly versatile, which makes up for not packing the most punch. Here are our picks for the Fallout 76 best pistol.
10. Pipe Pistol
Base Damage: 12
Fire Rate: 60
Much maligned, the Pipe Pistol certainly isn’t a modern marvel. However this bolted-together DIY pistol is more useful than it is often given credit for. The Pipe Pistol has a very high rate of fire which provides decent DPS. Unfortuantely, its range and accuracy are below average.
9. Laser Pistol
Base Damage: 10
Fire Rate: 50
The Laser Pistol clocks in at #9, but it has a lot of potential. The base stats aren’t anything special; low damage is balanced by a high rate of fire. The weapon also has above average range for a pistol and very good accuracy. The intangible factors that are positives include the use of energy damage and the ability to greatly improve the laser pistol through mods.
8. 10mm Pistol
Base Damage: 16
Fire Rate: 43
The 10mm pistol is one of the most common pistols in Fallout 76. The base damage is low and it has average accuracy at best. However, the range on the 10mm Pistol is strong and the high rate of fire more than makes up for the below average base damage.
7. .44 Pistol
Base Damage: 49
Fire Rate: 6
The .44 pistol has solid base damage. Unfortunately, the gun doesn’t offer much in the way of fire rate, range, or accuracy. It is inferior to the #5 on our list, the Western Revolver, in almost every way.
6. Black Powder Pistol
Base Damage: 115
Fire Rate: 2
The black powder pistol is a throwback handgun that fires a .50 ball. As you would expect, it trades an extremely slow rate of fire with enormous damage. The Black Powder Pistol has the highest base damage of any pistol. In fact, it has more than twice the base damage of the pistol with second-highest base damage.
5. Western Revolver
Base Damage: 67
Fire Rate: 6
The Western Revolver is a heavy hitter, at least when it comes to pistols. While the fire rate is low, the base damage for the revolver is one of the highest available for pistols in Fallout 76. The Western Revolver also has decent accuracy and above average range.
4. Enclave Plasma Gun
Base Damage: 18
Fire Rate: 33
The Enclave Plasma Gun is essentially the same as #3 on our list, the Plasma Pistol. However, it trades a small amount of damage for a slight increase in accuracy.
3. Plasma Pistol
Base Damage: 20
Fire Rate: 33
The Plasma Pistol has a lot to offer. While the base damage isn’t out of this world, the fire rate more than makes up for it. Where the Plasma Pistol really shines, however, is the combinate of good rance and incredible accuracy. In fact, the Plasma Pistol and its offshoot the Enclave Plasma Gun are the two most accurate pistols in Fallout 76.
2. Gamma Gun
Base Damage: 33
Fire Rate: 67
Our second favorite choice for Fallout 76 best pistol is the Gamma Gun. This crazy looking weapon packs a big punch with radiation damage. The Gamma gun has solid DPS due to above average base damage and fire rate. This weapon also offers above-average accuracy, but it really excels with its incredible range. The Gamma Gun has the best range of any pistol in the game, doubling most other pistols. However, the radiation damage limits the weapon due to high radiation immunity of robots and mutants.
1. Ultracite Laser Pistol
Base Damage: 24
Fire Rate: 50
Our top pick for pistols is the Ultracite Laser Pistol. This hard to find pistol requires level 30 to operate and can be acquired upon joining the Brotherhood. The Ultracite is a laser weapon, so it deals energy damage which is rare for a pistol. Overall, the gun is above average at everything and is a great go-to pistol in the wilds of irradiated West Virginia.
